A GAME CHANGER
for period education
At hormoneia, we are driven by our mission of removing barriers and providing equity in access to quality menstrual health and sex education
That’s why we are developing a board game to help teenagers and adults understand their bodies and hormones better!
Our story
Who are we?
Holly is a dyslexic games inventor, co-creator of Hormoneia and founder of Hybrid Games. She delivers exciting workshops to schools using her original games to help pupils understand science topics.
She is passionate about helping students with learning difficulties excel in STEM and not have to struggle the way she did at school.
Sophie is an art director, holistic nutritionist and co-creator of the game Hormoneia. She is passionate about young people advocating for their menstrual health and aids in both the creative and business development of the game.

Our solution is to bring an equaliser to the current system surrounding menstrual health education to all genders and break down the taboo of periods, whilst educating young people on reproductive health.
We know first-hand that periods are misunderstood, misrepresented and seen as taboo
Put simply, the goal of Hormoneia is to create an open conversation.
This is why our products can make our customers feel heard and learn something new.
We made it, creating a period education we wished we’d had

Meet the hormones
Hormones play a huge role in menstruation, and we’ve created a new way for young people to understand them
We created fun, colourful characters to communicate the five key hormones associated with the menstrual cycle
They’re designed specifically to demystify the hormonal process in the reproductive system.
We also made sure they were genderless and included features such as a hearing aid to be inclusive of all learners.
These play a large part of the game.

Hormones and the
menstual cycle
Our hormones are pretty busy
in the menstrual cycle,
but what are they up to?
Oestrogen
Plays a major role
in developing the
follicles. These
contain the eggs
FSH
Makes the uterus
lining grow. Boosting
oestrogen can make
you feel energetic
Progesterone
Prepares the uterus
ready for the early
stages of pregnancy.
Just in case
Testosterone
Small amounts of
testosterone are
made in adrenal
glands and ovaries
Luteinizing
Works fast to
trigger ovulation.
Release of mature
egg from ovaries
